We all had a great time at Reignforest Collective’s 2nd Anniversary event Listening Lounge at 111 Minna last night. Didn’t get a chance to snap enough pictures from the night, but this one was definitely overdue.

IS THIS REAL LIFE?!?!

Harlem

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

Starry Night

Starry Night

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.Withering my intuition leaving opportunities behind.Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.Reaching out to embrace the random.Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving opportunities behind.
Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

“I think that this is the first time I am meeting most of you. But to me, whether it is an old friend or new friend, there’s not much difference anyway, because I always believe we are the same; we are all human beings. Of course, there may be differences in our cultural background or way of life, there may be differences in our faith, or we may be of a different color, but we are human beings, consisting of the human body and the human mind. Our physical structure is the same, and our mind and our emotional nature are also the same. Whenever I meet people, I always have the feeling that I am encountering another human being, just like myself. I find it is much easier to communicate with others on that level. If we emphasize specific characteristics, like I am Tibetan or I am Buddhist, then there are differences. But those things are secondary. If we can leave the differences aside, I think we can easily communicate, exchange ideas, and share experiences.”

I dig my toes into the sand The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds Strewn across a blue blanket I lean against the wind Pretend that I am weightless And in this moment I am happy…happy

just reblogging my post:
doin nothing in the Philippines > doin nothing at home.
then again, doin nothing in the Philippines would undoubtedly turn into doin hella SOMETHINGS. for the past few years, i’ve been dying to to go the Philippines, but i always had school or work holdin me back. BUT now that i’m freshly graduated and jobless seeking employment.. NOW would be the perfect time to go..
“Oh i didn’t tell you she was going? you were supposed to go with her.”
that’s what my mom said to me. that she wanted me to go to the Philippines with my cousin. since i was in Santa Crazy so much, she figured i had other priorities that i needed to handle, even though she knew i wasn’t working. i mean, don’t get me wrong, spending my last few days chillin with homies before i had to move out was good ass times, but if i had known that going to the Philippines was within my horizon, i woulda been shook. TOO BAD my mom didn’t tell me about her little plan until i moved home and after my cousin had left. i actually wouldn’t have known my cousin was leaving unless i didn’t randomly call my mom the day before my cousin’s flight, where she still failed to tell me of her plan..
i guess all i can do is wait until the stars are in perfect alignment.
until then, i gotta live it through other people.
Soul101’s Flickr is one of them. it’s kinda ironic that my mom is the one who forwarded this to me.. but.. Soul101 has captured the beauty that is the Philippines and has posted them to share with everyone in the world, especially for those who can’t be there to experience it in person. it isn’t doin too much for me in terms of what i’m missin out on right now, but the photos are cuhhleaan! and i can’t help but feel inspired and take pride in my roots.

The Used

this past weekend i went to tahoe with the fam. whenever i’m in the car with my dad driving, i don’t really get to listen to the radjo without him telling me it’s too loud or that it’s hurting his ears. with this in mind, i brought along my old school, half-broken screened ipod to get through the drive. it hasn’t been until recently that i’ve been listenin to this bad boy to fill the silence of the lonely bart rides and to phase out the sounds of the bart train in motion whenever i head to the city. aside from a few updated tunes, it has hella of my old songs that i’ve had since high school, shit which has been erased from my old harddrive. anyway, i’ve rediscovered all the stuff i used to listen to way back when. from old school hip hop to dipset, from old top 40’s to some slow jams, from some house/rave shit to some emo/alternative/rock greatness. a lot of it has been unlistened to for years.

one of the bands that i’m glad to have re-fallen for is The Used. it may be a little different from what you imagine me listening to, but that jus shows how much u don’t know. but yea, the band was introduced to me by a friend of mine in high school. and since my shit got erased i kinda forgot about them. bt the band is as siick as i remember them to be. imagine a band whose vocalist sang and screamed so hard and so passionately that they would yack on stage. yeah. thas my shit! haha.

i regret not seeing them when they hit up The Catalyst.

anyway here’s there first two albums, they’re the most complete i could find of them on imeem to share.
